SWABI: Alumni are a great source of inspiration and a true asset for their alma mater as they represent their mother institution wherever they go, whether in professional duties or while guiding others, speakers told a gathering at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIK Institute) on Saturday.
Academicians and alumni, who had visited the institute from the United States, various European countries and different parts of Pakistan, highlighted the role of graduates in enhancing the reputation of GIK Institute at national and international levels through their professional achievements.
Established in 1993, the GIK Institute has produced graduates who are serving in leading multinational companies across the world and holding prominent positions in their respective fields.
The speakers noted that the GIK Institute Alumni Association (GIKAA) has developed an effective mechanism to remain in contact with alumni worldwide.
They added that the association also makes significant contributions towards providing scholarships to deserving and talented students, enabling them to acquire contemporary knowledge in various disciplines of engineering and management sciences.
The participants emphasized that strong alumni engagement not only strengthens the institution’s academic environment but also plays a key role in supporting students and promoting excellence in higher education.
Imran Aslam who belongs to Ist batch, an aluminous who came from Lahore said: “These sweet memories are like shadows who never leave us. The golden period of our life was a making or breaking time. But when you find a good institution, competent faculty, a better environment and groom in it, your life and future become brighter. This is what we got in the GIK Institute.”
All alumni were given a perfect opportunity to sit with their faculty of their respective department, exchange ideas with them for improving the education quality, conveying knowledge, and apprised the incumbent students about the tough competition in the job market while guiding the that how can they achieve a distinguished position in their practical life, all these were very beneficial for the students.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Khalid, rector of the Institute, said that the institute gives a great importance to the alumni, and their guidance and contribution was always a valuable source of inspiration and they strive to further strengthen their association.
