KARACHI: SICPA Pakistan marked its 30th anniversary with a ceremony in Karachi on November 27, attended by State Bank of Pakistan Governor Jameel Ahmad and senior officials from the central bank, Pakistan Security Printing Corporation and the company’s brand protection partners.
Rizwan Butt, managing director of SICPA Inks Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd, said the company had deepened its operations since its 1995 incorporation as a supplier of security inks for banknotes. He pointed to the launch of its brand protection business in 2007, facility upgrades in 2012 and the introduction of its QUAZAR technology in 2022, which he said had strengthened its ability to support more than 60 brands across multiple sectors.
Governor Ahmad commended Sicpa’s role in supplying security inks and noted the longstanding partnership between the company and the state-owned printing corporation. He said the localisation of a range of inks had benefited both sides and urged Sicpa to examine the feasibility of using its Pakistan operations as a regional export hub for security inks and related products. He also acknowledged the firm’s support for Pakistan’s next banknote series.
Arnaud Laurans, managing director of currency services and solutions at Sicpa Switzerland, said the Pakistan unit had become a trusted contributor to security printing and brand protection. He praised the local team’s focus on quality and operational performance, adding that the company would continue investing in digital and next-generation technologies.
