LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the Punjab government has decided to introduce the Chief Minister’s Special Initiative for Cancer Patient Card and cardiac surgery in Punjab.Free medicines worth billions of rupees have been provided in specialised hospitals.
He shared this information while chairing a meeting in the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department on Thursday. Secretary Health Azmat Mahmood attended the meeting in which briefing was given on the monitoring framework of various health projects, service delivery and measures taken for the convenience of patients. Public feedback regarding health projects was also reviewed.
Addressing the meeting, Khawaja Salman Rafique stressed the importance of ensuring transparency in flagship programmes, improving the quality of service and ensuring better monitoring for the convenience of patients. He said that for the first time in Punjab, the culture of delay has been eliminated in the health sector.
The Punjab government has a clear message that even a moment’s delay in the treatment of heart patients is unacceptable. Millions of patients have benefited in Punjab’s specialised hospitals, surgeries have been performed, while free medicines worth billions of rupees have been distributed.
He said that the recruitment of more than 3,000 new doctors and nurses on 100 percent merit is also being implemented through the Punjab Public Service Commission. Meanwhile, the minister chaired another meeting here regarding the CM's Special Initiative for Stroke Management. In the meeting, neurosurgeons, neurologists and stroke management physicians presented their suggestions.Addressing the meeting, the minister said that the plan for the CM's Special Initiative for Stroke Management Programme is being finalised in Punjab.
