ISLAMABAD: In a major step toward making the Islamabad Model Jail fully operational, the Ministry of Interior has appointed Ali Akbar as the first Senior Superintendent of Federal Prisons (SSFP) for the facility.

The development follows special directives issued by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to expedite the completion and activation of the new federal jail.

Akbar has been designated as the Senior Superintendent of Prisons for the “Federal Prison of Pakistan.”

Following the appointment, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, held a special meeting with the newly appointed SSFP. Both the IGP and the IG Prisons issued clear directions stressing the need to make the Islamabad Model Jail operational as soon as possible.

Once the federal facility becomes functional, it will significantly reshape inmate management in the region. All detainees and prisoners involved in cases under Islamabad’s jurisdiction will be housed at the Model Jail.
