Central Park’s football revolution is giving Lahore’s young talent a real platform

At a time when concerns over screen addiction, sedentary lifestyles, and limited sporting opportunities for youngsters continue to grow, Central Park’s commitment to grassroots sports offers a refreshing and encouraging example for communities across Lahore.

The recently concluded Intra Academy Football League 2026 was far more than a competition. It represented a carefully planned effort to engage children in healthy activities, nurture talent, and strengthen the culture of sportsmanship among the city’s youth. Over the course of two months, more than 60 young footballers competed in the Under-14 and Under-10 categories, displaying remarkable passion, discipline, teamwork, and competitive spirit.

What stood out throughout the tournament was not merely the quality of football on display but the enthusiasm with which these young players embraced the game. Every match reflected determination and a willingness to learn—qualities that are essential for producing future athletes and responsible citizens alike.

Organised under the banner of Vision 2030, the league reinforced Central Park’s broader objective of creating a healthier, more active, and socially connected community. Such initiatives are particularly valuable because they provide children with structured sporting opportunities that contribute to both physical fitness and personal development.

The Under-14 competition delivered several memorable contests. CP Blue, CP Yellow, and CP Orange battled fiercely throughout the league stage, producing entertaining football and impressive individual performances. Players such as Nouman, Ayaan, Saif Ali, Abdullah, Talha Naeem, and Qasim consistently made their presence felt, demonstrating technical ability and confidence beyond their years.

The final between CP Orange and CP Blue proved to be a fitting conclusion to the tournament. After a closely contested encounter, CP Orange emerged victorious in a dramatic penalty shootout, highlighting the resilience and composure of the young champions under pressure.

The Under-10 category was equally exciting. The future stars of the academy showcased tremendous energy and enthusiasm, with every match producing moments of skill and determination. CP Blue eventually secured the title after overcoming CP Orange in a tense penalty shootout following a goalless draw in regulation time.

Among the standout performers, Essa Faisal displayed exceptional consistency and leadership in the Under-10 division, while Taha Javaid continued to impress with his football intelligence and attacking instincts in the Under-14 category. Their recognition as Best Football Kid U-10 and Best Football Kid U-14 respectively was a deserved reward for sustained excellence throughout the competition.

The closing ceremony reflected the significance of the event, with Head of Sports Committee Umar Majeed, IT Head Nouman Akhtar, and Sports Manager Muhammad Kaleem applauding the young participants and distributing awards. Their presence underscored the organisers’ commitment to encouraging youth development through sport.

Perhaps the biggest success of the league was its ability to create an environment where winning and losing became secondary to learning, participation, and personal growth.

The tournament provided youngsters with valuable lessons in teamwork, discipline, respect, and perseverance—qualities that extend well beyond the football field.

As Pakistan continues its search for sporting talent and stronger grassroots structures, community-led initiatives such as Central Park’s football programme deserve recognition and support. The country’s sporting future will not be built solely in elite academies or national training centres; it will begin in neighbourhood grounds and community leagues where children first discover their love for the game.

The success of the Intra Academy Football League 2026 sends a clear message: when communities invest in youth sports, they invest in healthier lifestyles, stronger social bonds, and brighter futures. Central Park’s efforts are proving that grassroots football can be a powerful force for positive change, and if this momentum continues, many of these young players may one day represent much more than their local teams.
