The Punjab government has decided to initiate a crackdown on violations of one-dish regulations and the unlawful use of loudspeakers at weddings and public events across the province.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners across Punjab to ensure strict enforcement of the one-dish policy. She also instructed authorities to take firm action against excessively loud music at weddings and other celebrations.

She ordered that one-dish restrictions should be enforced in the events held at farmhouses and grounds as rigorously as in marriage halls.

The Punjab government had imposed the 'one-dish rule' in wedding events to promote austerity and discourage extravagant trends among citizens.

The chief minister also directed officials to initiate legal action against the illegal use of loudspeakers during qawwali nights and similar events.

Officials have been tasked with monitoring compliance with the designated operating hours set for wedding halls.
