LAHORE : A meeting of the First Investigation Transfer Board, chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police (Investigation) M Naveed, reviewed requests for the transfer of investigations in 33 cases involving murder, criminal breach of trust, dishonoured cheques, kidnapping, fraud and theft.

All divisional SPs of the Investigation Wing attended the meeting.

According to the police, the board heard the parties concerned and decided cases on merit in light of the available evidence and facts.

Cases presented before the board included the murder of complainant Sohaib Tahir, the kidnapping of Ayesha Bibi, and alleged criminal breach of trust involving Waqas Elahi and Abdul Sattar. Cases involving theft reported by Sarwar Bibi, a dishonoured cheque involving M Afzal, and alleged fraud involving Kamran Shaukat were also discussed.

The meeting also addressed action against officers found responsible for poor performance and negligence during investigations.

SSP Investigation said officers conducting weak investigations would face strict accountability and that impartiality in investigations would not be compromised.

He said the investigation transfer board provided an effective platform for addressing citizens’ complaints. Cases involving women and children were being handled promptly, he added. Naveed directed investigating officers to adopt scientific methods and modern investigative techniques and ensure transparency, accountability and timely justice.
