Islamabad : The federal capital experienced a severe wave of crime over a 24-hour period ending October 2, with Islamabad Police recording more than 10 separate criminal incidents across various residential areas, highlighted by a major armed robbery in a private housing society.

In the most significant incident, armed intruders broke into the residence of Syed Ali Akbar Naqvi within the jurisdiction of Khanna Police Station. The robbers held the family hostage at gunpoint and looted gold jewelry alongside other valuables estimated at Rs30 million. Before escaping the scene, the suspects also detached and took away the house’s CCTV recording device. Khanna Police have registered a case against unidentified perpetrators and initiated a formal investigation.

Beyond the private housing society heist, police sources reported a series of robberies, thefts, and a murder across the city during the same timeframe. The reported sprees left citizens deprived of millions of rupees in property and cash. Official entries show five separate motorcycle thefts, three street-crime and robbery incidents, and one homicide recorded within the 24-hour period.

Questions are also emerging regarding the transparency of official crime metrics. While eight theft and robbery cases were formally logged on the previous day, several other complaints were reportedly kept pending at local police stations.
