LAHORE: The fifth day of the Lahore Race Club’s Winter Meeting 2026-27 offers an intriguing six-race programme on Sunday, with the Nonahal Cup and the Syed Mansab Ali Shah Memorial Cup serving as the feature events.

The card presents a mix of seasoned campaigners, improving maidens and promising juveniles, providing punters with several competitive contests across distances ranging from 1000m to 1200m.

The opening Class VII Division VII (1000m) race appears highly competitive, but Pocket Power gets the nod as the horse most likely to break through. The runner has shown enough ability to suggest a winning turn is near. Gallop In Glory looks the safest option for place purposes, while Thunder Pride carries enough potential to spring a surprise if conditions suit. Remaining of the field of 10 are One Side 8 (9-0, Lady Sareena 10 (8-12, Al Murtajiz 7 (8-6, Sosig Go 9 (8-0, Silent Melody 11 (8-0, Grace 3 (8-0, and Raees Sahib 2 (7-12).

In race 2, of Class VII Division V & VI (1100m), Sultan Again stands out on recent credentials and appears well placed to land the spoils. Dogar Choice commands respect and should be involved at the finish, while top-weight Raja The Great possesses the class to challenge strongly if able to overcome the burden. The field from 10 participants also has Roxy 2 (8-0). Ghazal 11 (7-10). Piyari 9 (7-10). Lucky Macs 7 (7-10). Sher Dil 8 (7-10). Naveed-e-Sahar 6 (7-8). True My Love 10 (7-8).

This Class VII Division III & IV (1100m) race features several progressive contenders, but Safe Bet looks aptly named and rates as the horse to beat. Emerging Star has the profile of a strong challenger, while Haseeb Thunder represents the value option capable of upsetting the market leaders. Others in the run are Be A Man 6 (9-2). Desert Parri 5 (8-8). Paddington 8 (8-2). Fatteh Prince 4 (8-2). Shair-e-Niaz Baig 9 (8-0).

The first featured Nonahal Cup (1000m) race of the afternoon, restricted to two-year-old maidens, is naturally difficult to assess due to limited racecourse evidence. Early market moves may prove significant. On breeding and stable confidence, Kitten’s Boy and Pakistani Champion emerge as co-favourites. Bella Forever appeals as a strong place prospect, while Pakistani Queen could be the surprise package of the race. Others are Gujrat Eleven 8 (8-5), Princess Shahami 5 (8-5), River 4 (8-5).

The second feature event Syed Mansab Ali Shah Memorial Cup (1200m) has attracted only five runners but promises a keen battle. Ghuroor appears the most reliable performer in the field and is selected to prevail. Moni Ka Arman looks the principal threat, while Almond Eye cannot be ruled out if producing improvement at the right time. Also expect tough challenge from Bella One 4 (8-5), and Saltanat 6 (7-13).

The concluding Class VII Division I & II (1200m) event could see Dawood Prince end the day on a winning note. The gelding appears favourably placed and is preferred over the consistent Sikandar, while top-weight Ameera remains capable of making a strong challenge despite carrying 9-2. The remaining challengers includes Construct Craft 3 (8-5). Lord & Lion 6 (8-0). Alaska 7 (8-0). Falco 4 (6-0).
