Monument to failure

Nearly a year after the October 10, 2025 ceasefire, Gaza is still being bombed and children and innocent civilians ruthlessly massacred. Trump's Board of Peace has failed to enforce the ceasefire or ease the illegal siege and blockade of Gaza by the Israeli forces. A board that cannot protect the truce it was created to guard deserves its name only on paper. Meanwhile, the West Bank also presents a dreaded picture, with state-backed settler violence, demolitions and expulsions becoming daily occurrences. Israel is legalising settlements and approving hundreds of new units, in defiance of international law and burying any potential Palestinian state.

The key to ending all these atrocities lies in Washington. American taxpayers' dollars and sophisticated weapons sustain Israel's military power. If President Trump truly wants to be remembered as a peacemaker, this is the test he has to clear. Peace without a sovereign Palestinian state, dignity and rights will remain deceptive and incomplete. The millions rising for a free Palestine across the world deserve an answer. The Board of Peace can give one or it can remain a monument to failure.
