KARACHI: Pakistan must accelerate the adoption of renewable energy, particularly solar power, to meet its growing electricity requirements and address mounting challenges in the energy sector, Commandant Pakistan Navy War College Rear Admiral Sohail Ahmed Azmie said.
Speaking as chief guest at the launch of TBEA Xi’an Electric Technology Co Ltd’s advanced hybrid solar inverters in the Pakistani market, Rear Admiral Azmie described solar energy as a clean, reliable and increasingly important source of power for the country’s future energy needs, a statement said on Saturday.
He said the promotion of renewable energy is essential for the sustainable development of Pakistan’s energy sector, adding that advanced technologies for solar generation and energy storage could help address the country’s evolving electricity requirements.
The product launch was attended by energy-sector professionals, industry representatives, solar experts and business leaders.
TBEA Xi’an Electric Technology, a Chinese energy technology company, introduced a range of hybrid solar inverters and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) at the event as part of its expansion into the Pakistani market.
A detailed presentation on TBEA’s inverter and energy-storage solutions was subsequently delivered by Mian Fahad. He briefed participants on the technical characteristics, capacities and applications of the company’s different hybrid inverter models and Battery Energy Storage Systems.
Pakistan Solar Association Chairman Adil Mahmood also addressed the gathering.
He said the expansion of solar energy has helped provide an alternative source of electricity for consumers and businesses amid rising power costs. Without the growth of solar energy, he claimed, the per-unit cost of electricity in Pakistan could have reached as high as Rs400.
