KARACHI: JazzWorld Chief Executive Officer Aamir Ibrahim has called for immediate and deliberate investment in artificial intelligence (AI), scalable digital infrastructure and applications that deliver real economic value, a statement said on Friday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the GSMA Nova Future Summit in Napa Valley, California, he said countries must be intentional about AI spending and invest now. “For countries like Pakistan, we have to make sure that the digital divide does not become an intelligence divide,” he said.

He also stressed the need to plan carefully for the infrastructure that will power AI, including data centres and the partnerships required to build them. AI, he added, must improve productivity and solve real problems, as sustainable investment will depend on its ability to create value.

Kazim Mujtaba, president of Jazz GSM, and Fatima Akhtar, vice president for corporate communications and ESG, also attended the summit, which focused on AI, intelligent connectivity, infrastructure and emerging business models.
