CHITRAL: The district administration sealed and locked Chitral Town Hall shortly before a scheduled meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers on Friday, forcing the organisers to shift the gathering to another venue.
The PTI had scheduled a workers’ convention and consultative meeting at the Town Hall in connection with its Islamabad march. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly deputy speaker Suraya Bibi was also scheduled to attend the meeting.
A large number of party workers had begun arriving at the venue when the hall was closed by the administration.Local party sources said that the security and law-and-order concerns, along with other administrative considerations, were cited for the closure.
