Islamabad:Teachers of the federal government colleges have hailed the appointment of new principals at two Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) boys’ colleges, describing the move as a positive step towards ensuring merit, seniority and experience in the appointment of institutional heads.
The regulator Federal Directorate of Education has appointed new heads for Islamabad Model Postgraduate College (IMPC), H-8, and Islamabad Model College for Boys (IMCB), Sihala, following the superannuation of their incumbent principals.
According to notifications issued by the FDE, Ehsamullah Baig, Associate Professor at Islamabad Model Postgraduate College of Commerce, H-8/4, has been transferred and posted at IMPC H-8 as Vice Principal with immediate effect. He is scheduled to assume charge as Principal on October 17, 2026, following the retirement of Prof Athar-ul-Islam, the incumbent principal.
Also, Ahmad Jamal, Associate Professor at IMCB H-9, has been transferred and posted as Principal of IMCB Sihala with immediate effect following the superannuation of Prof Zahoor Ahmed on September 29, 2026.
Federal Government Colleges Teachers Association (FGCTA) President Professor Akram Khan Khosa welcomed the appointments, saying the selections reflected consideration of seniority, experience and the prescribed eligibility criteria for appointment as principals.
He appreciated the role of FDE Director General Javed Iqbal Mirza in the selection process. He said transparent and merit-based appointments were important for strengthening the administrative and academic environment of government educational institutions.
“We hope that the newly appointed principals would play an effective role in improving educational standards at their respective colleges and address the academic and administrative challenges confronting the institutions,” he said.
