Islamabad:The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has constituted a committee to oversee and standardise the recruitment and engagement of visiting teachers in educational institutions under the regulator Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).

According to an official notification issued by the ministry, the Visiting Faculty Engagement Committee will operate under a structured framework aimed at ensuring uniformity and transparency in the selection process.

The FDE deputy director general (policy) has been designated as the committee’s chairperson, while the deputy secretary (FE) at the education ministry, the relevant director, head of the institution concerned and a relevant subject specialist will serve as its members.

Under the newly-defined terms of reference, the committee will directly supervise the tests and interviews for visiting faculty positions. After completion of the selection process, the committee will submit its final recommendations to the FDE director general for approval.

The approved selections will subsequently be published on the FDE website. The framework also provides for the creation and maintenance of a reserve merit pool by the FDE. The pool is intended to facilitate the timely filling of vacancies arising after the completion of the initial recruitment process, enabling institutions to engage eligible candidates without initiating the entire selection exercise afresh.

The notification further stipulates that candidates already serving in other government departments or organisations must produce a valid no objection certificate before their engagement. It has also been clarified that all selected visiting faculty members will be engaged strictly on a fresh contractual basis. They will be required to execute an affidavit stating that their engagement will not create any right or claim for regularisation, continuation of service or other benefits available to regular employees.
