LAHORE: A reconnaissance team from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has arrived in Pakistan to assess preparations ahead of England’s upcoming tour, which includes the ODI tri-series featuring Pakistan, England, and Sri Lanka.
According to sources, the ECB delegation’s visit is a routine exercise aimed at reviewing security, logistical, and venue arrangements. The team began its inspection in Lahore on Monday, with scheduled visits to the Gaddafi Stadium and meetings with local administration and security officials. Following the Lahore review, the delegation will travel to Rawalpindi to inspect arrangements at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, ensuring readiness for the tri-series fixtures.
Before the tri-series, Sri Lanka will arrive on October 4 for a three-match T20I series in Rawalpindi from October 9 to 13. This will set the stage for England’s arrival and the high-profile ODI competition.
The ECB’s reconnaissance visit underscores the importance of security and venue readiness in international cricket tours. With Pakistan hosting back-to-back series, the inspections reflect the collaborative efforts between cricket boards and local authorities to ensure smooth operations and player safety. The tri-series is expected to draw significant attention, marking another milestone in Pakistan’s growing role as a host of major international cricket events.
