ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday demanded a transparent inquiry into the tragic death of its committed worker.
The party expressed profound grief and sorrow over the tragic death of Malik Ishtiaq, who succumbed to severe burn injuries earlier today at Mayo Hospital, Lahore, after battling for his life for 18 days.
According to party officials, Malik Ishtiaq sustained burns on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal when he fell into a large vat of boiling oil during an alleged raid conducted by the Punjab Police.
The PTI has strongly condemned the alleged high-handedness and brutality of the Punjab Police and also expressed deep concern over the treatment of the family post-death, noting with grave concern that the family was allegedly pressured into a rushed burial without being granted the proper time or respect to mourn their loved one.
The PTI asserted that no state institution had the authority to bypass the law or violate human rights. The party formally demanded an immediate, transparent, and completely unbiased inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Malik Ishtiaq’s injuries and subsequent death.
