A 70-year-old woman was found dead inside her house in Federal B Area’s Block 15 on Saturday, within the jurisdiction of Joharabad Police Station.

The deceased was identified as Abida, wife of Aziz. The police said the woman had been living with her daughter, who had gone to school to teach. Upon returning home, the daughter found her mother dead.

SHO Joharabad Yousuf Mehr said there were no visible signs of torture or bullet wounds on the woman’s body. He added that the deceased was a heart and blood pressure patient, and initial investigations suggested that she might have died of natural causes.

The police conducted a postmortem examination, and the actual cause of death would be determined after the report is received. Meanwhile, the woman’s daughter claimed that her mother had been murdered and that jewellery and cash were missing from the house.

The SHO, however, said around Rs3,000, Rs65,000 and jewellery were found in a bag inside the house. He added that a case would be registered based on the statement of the heirs, while further investigation would clarify the circumstances surrounding the death.
