The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) and the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) on Saturday signed an agreement for the construction of the Rs14 billion Dumlottee Pipeline Project, aimed at strengthening water supply to Defence and Clifton.
Officials said the project would provide an additional 10 million gallons of water per day from Dumlottee to Defence and Clifton, helping improve water availability in the two important areas of the city. Construction work was scheduled to begin next week, while the project was expected to be completed within 12 months.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, who described the project as an important step towards addressing the city’s persistent water shortages and improving its water supply infrastructure.
Wahab said the additional 10 million gallons per day would help reduce water shortages in Defence and Clifton and strengthen the overall water distribution network. He said the project was a joint initiative of the Sindh government and the KW&SC and reflected the government’s commitment to improving essential civic infrastructure.
He said the Sindh government’s support was enabling the city administration and the KW&SC to undertake projects aimed at upgrading and strengthening Karachi’s water supply system. The mayor also appreciated the provincial government’s support for the project.
