Three people were killed and two teenage girls were injured in road accidents in different parts of Karachi, while police impounded a truck involved in one of the incidents.

The first accident occurred near a private housing society on M-9 Motorway in the Gadap City area, where a speeding vehicle collided with a car. The impact caused the car to run over pedestrians before plunging into a ditch.

As a result, a 45-year-old pedestrian was killed, while two girls sustained injuries. The car driver also lost consciousness following the accident.

Edhi ambulances shifted the deceased, injured girls and unconscious driver to a nearby private hospital for treatment and medical procedures. Police said the deceased man could not be identified immediately.

The injured girls were identified as 15-year-old Rani, daughter of Abdul Ghani, and 13-year-old Shanzay. Both girls are residents of Dumba Goth. The driver was identified as 45-year-old Niaz.

In an accident in the SITE Superhighway area, a young motorcyclist was killed after being struck by a truck near Maymar Mor, Chakar Hotel and Attock Pump.

The deceased was identified by police as 24-year-old Hammad, son of Khalilur Rehman, a resident of the area near Superhighway Maymar Morr. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital through a Chhipa ambulance for medico-legal formalities.

The truck driver fled the scene after the accident. Police, however, impounded the vehicle. Efforts were being made to trace and arrest the driver.

In a third incident, a pedestrian was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Matkay Wali Puliya in Korangi’s Zaman Town. A Chhipa ambulance shifted the body to Jinnah Hospital, where police completed the necessary medico-legal procedures.

Police said no document or other item was found on the deceased that could immediately establish his identity. Following completion of the required formalities, the body was shifted to the Chhipa morgue, where it was kept for identification by the victim’s heirs
