LAHORE: The second day of the Lahore Winter Meeting 2026–27 will be staged on Sunday (today), featuring five races over distances ranging from 900 to 1,000 metres. The Lahore Race Club (LRC) continues its tradition of honouring Pakistan’s martyrs through the War Heroes Cups, a symbolic gesture linking sport with national pride.
The Lahore Winter Meeting not only provides competitive racing opportunities but also serves as a platform to commemorate the sacrifices of Pakistan’s war heroes. By naming races after recipients of the Nishan-e-Haider, the LRC reinforces the connection between national heritage and sporting culture.
Race one is the Defence Day Cup Class VII Division VI & VII (Maiden) — 900m with a field of 14 runners including Favourite Roxy, Place aspirant Grace and a Fluke entry Tehran Shan with remaining participants Torpedo 9 9-0, Mirza Prince 8 9-0, Inside Story 10 9-0, Fair Diamond 4 8-10, One Side 2 8-10, Happy Time 12 8-7, Al Mutrajiz 15 8-6, Bella Nova 6 8-3, Mohtarma 11 7-13, Raees Sahib 13 7-12, and Hamdan Prince 3 7-10.
The second race is the Naik Saif Ali Janjua Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider Cup, Class VII Division VI & VII — 900m race with field of 11. It features Favourite Singhar, Place contender Largess and a surprise expectation on fluke Bilal One while others in the run are Sky Warrior 10 9-0, Royal Stone 7 8-10, Babbar Sher 6 8-6, Naveed-e-Sahar 4 8-4, Sosig Go 9 7-12, Pocket Power 8 7-8, American Star 11 7-8, and Star Crown 12 7-8.
The Hawaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider Cup, a Class VII Division V & VI — 900m is the third race with a field of 11. Favourite for the race is Sultan Again, Place expectation are on Messi while an element of Fluke is carried by Black Fire. Remaining of the field are Sea of Class 2 9-2, Wake Up 10 9-0, Dogar Choice 7 8-12, Princess Arooj 4 8-10, Tiger of Sultan 12 8-10, Lucky Macs 11 8-10, Ghazal 3 8-4, Mid Night Grace 9 8-2 and Sultan Again 5 7-12.
In the fourth event there are nine participants running for Lance Naik Muhammad Mahfuz Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider Cup, a Class VII Division III & IV — 900m race. Top pick of the race is Bellatrix and is expected to follow by Falco while fluke is Be A Man. The field of nine also has Shair-e-Niaz Baig 10 8-12, Mister Sardar 5 8-10, Emerging Star 2 8-10, Safe Bet 9 8-4, Paddington 3 7-12, and Raja The Great 7 7-10.
In the fifth and final race, seven will be vying for Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider Cup, which is a Class VII Division I & II — 1000m contest. Here favourite is Rafah, with Classic Mystery being the challenger and a surprise could come from fluke Construct Craft. The remaining field comprises Pakiza 5 9-0, Imperius 4 8-0, First Love 8 7-12, and Zohan The Thunder 2 7-12.
