A high-level committee has reportedly presented the PM with a draft proposal to establish a 27-member elected assembly for Islamabad Capital Territory, complete with a chief executive and 27 administrative departments. One wonders about the need for such an elaborate setup when the present system seems to be working better compared to other cities of Pakistan, as is often opined by those visiting the country.
Is this new model even feasible given the present state of the economy? Is it not better to spend more on infrastructure and service sector equipment?
