The recent killing of well-known local businessman in Quetta has sent shockwaves through the community. This is not an isolated incident of lawlessness in Quetta, and incidents of kidnapping, shootings and robbery appear to be becoming increasingly common. The provincial capital is supposed to be secure since it is an economic hub and a centralised administration area.

Unfortunately, the Balochistan government appears to have failed to protect the people of the province. The provincial government must reconsider their policies and implement proper and strict actions in order to restore law and order in Quetta.

There is an alarming rise in street crime and robberies in Balochistan. What was once reported in only a few areas now appears to be spreading to more places, creating fear and insecurity among civilians.

I strongly urge the government and law-enforcement authorities to take immediate and effective action against street crime. Security measures must be strengthened, criminals must be dealt with according to the law and citizens must be provided with a safe environment.
