The persistent problems in Islamabad’s Sector E-11 reflect a serious failure of planning, regulation and governance. A large superstore on the east service road regularly causes traffic jams, while the unchecked mushrooming of private schools creates additional congestion and road-safety hazards during school hours. The sector also lacks adequate parks and public spaces, despite certain regulations requiring a specified proportion of land for green areas and amenities.
The alteration, narrowing and encroachment of natural nullahs have further exposed residents to flooding and property damage. Traffic planning has also been seriously neglected. Repeated requests for improvements appear to have had no meaningful effect on the concerned authorities and departments.
