The body of a two-month-old baby girl was found floating in a water tank on the rooftop of a house in Surjani Town on Tuesday morning, prompting police to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The infant, identified as Noor Fatima, was discovered in the water tank of a residence near Jamia Masjid Hasnain in Sector 7/B, Surjani Town. Her body was subsequently moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

According to her father, Ali, he had been playing with the baby until around 4am before going to sleep. Early in the morning, his wife woke him to ask about the baby after noticing that the child was missing.

The family searched the house but could not find her. Neighbours arrived after hearing the commotion and suggested checking the rooftop water tank, where the baby’s body was subsequently found floating. The police arrived at the scene, recorded statements from the parents, and examined the water tank and its surrounding area before shifting the body to the hospital.
