A 17-year-old boy was shot dead by robbers during a house robbery in Mehran City, Manghopir, in the early hours of Tuesday. The victim, identified as Rosham, son of Dr Roidad Khan, was the eldest among eight sisters and two brothers. His father said Rosham had recently passed his matriculation examination with a position.

According to his father, at around 4am, six masked robbers armed with sophisticated weapons arrived at their house in Block 6, Mehran City, near Ijtema Gah. Two of the suspects were allegedly wearing police uniforms.

The robbers were attempting to enter the house when Rosham’s father took out his licensed pistol and came towards the door. As Rosham also came out of another room, the suspects allegedly opened indiscriminate fire. A bullet struck Rosham in the chest, killing him on the spot.

The suspects fled while firing, the father said. He said he did not fire at the robbers because he feared that they might actually be police personnel and that opening fire could put his entire family at risk.

The father claimed that the same robbers had already looted four houses before reaching their home. He further alleged that robberies had been taking place in the area for several months and that suspects wearing police uniforms were involved.
