FAISALABAD: Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Timothy Kane on Monday visited the Lyallpur Museum.

Lyallpur Museum Director Maqbool Malik guided the high commissioner through the museum’s 10 galleries and briefed him on various aspects of the history, civilisation, culture, traditions and heritage of Faisalabad and its surrounding areas. The Australian envoy took keen interest in antiquities and other cultural exhibits displayed in the galleries. He was given a detailed briefing particularly on the culture and heritage of Sandal Bar, regional traditions, ancient lifestyles, the textile heritage of the region and the city’s historical journey from Lyallpur to Faisalabad. The HC said museums in Pakistan and Australia could strengthen bilateral cooperation through joint exhibitions, exchanges of experts and cultural programmes. Such initiatives, he added, would provide people of both countries with greater opportunities to understand each other’s history and culture.
