A 28-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified men at an LPG cylinder shop near Sariya Cut in Liaquatabad on Sunday. The deceased, identified as Shehzad, was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities. He was reportedly a native of South Punjab.
Police reached the scene after receiving information about the shooting and called the Crime Scene Unit to collect evidence. According to Liaquatabad SHO Shaukat Awan, Shehzad was working at the LPG shop and was present there with his 15-year-old colleague Tayyab, son of Maqbool, when two unidentified armed men arrived on a motorcycle.
The suspects allegedly demanded the key of Shehzad’s motorcycle. When he refused, they opened fire on him. Shehzad sustained a gunshot wound to the head and died at the scene. The assailants fled after snatching his motorcycle, mobile phone and cash from his pocket.
The SHO said the suspects abandoned the motorcycle they had used to reach the shop and escaped on the victim’s motorcycle. Police have taken the suspects’ motorcycle into custody for investigation. Further investigations are under way.
