LAHORE:The Technical Working Group has recommended dividing the tender for disposables into three separate categories. These categories include surgical dressings, medical devices (disposables) and anesthesia and ICU items.
The Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Punjab had formed a Technical Working Group under the leadership of Professor Asghar Naqi for the purchase of surgical and medical disposables. The Technical Working Group also includes the Principals of Medical Colleges, Executive Directors of Cardiology Institutions, Senior Professors of Surgery, Nephrology, Gynecology and Anesthesia, Medical Superintendents, Deputy Drug Controllers, Hospital Pharmacists, Biomedical Engineers and relevant officers of the department. So far two meetings of the group have been held. The group recommended seeking formal feedback from DRAP on the issue of free sale certificates for Chinese manufacturers. A response has been received from DRAP in this regard. Each category is being headed by senior members of the Technical Working Group. The Surgical Dressings category will be headed by Professor Dr Waris Farooq, Principal, Sargodha Medical College. The Anaesthesia and ICU Items category will be headed by Professor Dr Syed Imran Shah, PIC, Lahore, Executive Director.
