PESHAWAR: A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday sought another report from the investigation officer in the case concerning the attack and arson at the Radio Pakistan Peshawar building during protests on May 9 and 10 following the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

The case was heard by ATC Judge Wali Muhammad Khan. Lawyers for the accused, counsel for Radio Pakistan and the prosecutor appeared before the court.

Counsel for the accused Ali Zaman advocate told the court that the report sought in light of reports from the Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had not yet been submitted.

The investigation officer requested additional time, assuring the court that the required report would be presented at the next hearing.

According to the prosecution, nine accused in the case are still absconding.

On May 9, 2023, protesters allegedly attacked Radio Pakistan Peshawar Station, set its building on fire and damaged public and private property. The police subsequently nominated PTI provincial minister Meena Khan, MPAs Asif Khan and Fazal Elahi along with several other party workers in the case.

The prosecution said the identities of the accused had been established and verified through the Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory and NADRA.
