Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab, along with Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, distributed keys to 100 houses constructed for deserving families from the minority community in UC-1, Chaukundi, Hassan Panho Goth, District Malir.

During a ceremony held on the occasion, Wahab also distributed 200 sewing machines among women and inaugurated solar power and reverse osmosis (RO) plant projects for the newly constructed houses.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Parliamentary Leader in the City Council Karamullah Waqasi, Deputy Parliamentary Leader Dil Muhammad, Juman Darwan, Rashid Mughal, elected representatives and relevant officials attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Wahab said “Roti, Kapra aur Makan” was not merely a promise or a manifesto, but an ideology championed by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He said the provision of houses had been complemented by the installation of RO plants for clean drinking water and solar systems to meet the electricity needs of the residents.

“Protecting people’s rights and providing them with basic facilities is our responsibility,” Wahab said, adding that the public’s trust would be safeguarded. He described the provision of 100 houses and basic facilities in Chaukundi as a practical example of public service. The solar systems would provide electricity to the houses, while the RO plants would supply clean drinking water and improve the quality of life of the local population, he added.

Wahab said public welfare projects were being completed under a special grant from the Sindh government. He added that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had directed PPP representatives to serve Karachi and its people, and that welfare projects were being completed on a priority basis under his vision.
