The Madadgar 15 Mahmoodabad police have taken a woman into custody after she allegedly abandoned a six- to seven-month-old baby at a garbage dump in Liaquat Ashraf Colony.

According to a spokesperson for the Madadgar 15 police, they received information about the presence of a suspicious woman and immediately reached the location where they detained her. The woman was allegedly attempting to leave after abandoning the infant near a garbage dump, the spokesperson said.

According to preliminary information, the woman was a resident of New Karachi and had come to Liaquat Ashraf Colony to visit her brother. Police said the woman was allegedly suffering from an unstable mental condition. She had reportedly told her family members to remain outside the house and then left the area with her child. When she reached the garbage dump, she allegedly left the baby there.

Women present at the scene reportedly mistook her for a kidnapper, assaulted her and subsequently handed her over to the police. The woman was shifted to the police station, where officers contacted her family. After recording statements from her relatives, police handed over the woman and the baby to their family.
