ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mehmood Khan Achakzai awaits response from the prime minister about the letter he had written to him on August 10 for the appointment of new chief election commissioner (CEC) and two members of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

On the heels of this communication from the opposition leader to the prime minister, PM’s Adviser on Political Affairs Senator Sanullah Khan and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Taariq Fazl Chaudhry had met Achakzai in his chamber.

“The visiting members of federal cabinet had gone to the opposition leader’s chamber and given us a commitment that the response from the prime minister would come within two days but there has been no such move even after two weeks,” said Achakzai’s aide Akhunzada Hussain while talking to The News here.

He said the opposition leader was returning to Islamabad from Quetta on Friday and was expected to deliberate on the matter.
