ISLAMABAD. The Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abul Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain adjourned the hearing due to the non-presentation of the bail applications of 96 accused in a case registered over a Kashmir Day protest in Sector F-10 of the federal capital. During the hearing of the bail applications of the 96 accused arrested yesterday, the case record could not be presented.
The prosecutor told the court that the case record and investigation were with the High Court and, in the absence of the record, arguments could not be made. Judge Abul Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain said he was giving the prosecution an opportunity to present the record at the next hearing. The court adjourned further hearing until September 7. Police had registered the case against protesters at Shalimar Police Station under terrorism provisions.
Similarly, Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Tahir Abbas Supra indicated that a jail trial could be held in the case registered against the founder of PTI at Bhara Kahu Police Station. During the hearing, all four accused, including the founder of PTI, appeared in court. Judge Tahir Abbas Supra said the jail trial of the PTI founder was about to begin in a case and asked whether it should start in the same case that was under trial before him. The counsel for PTI founder, Murtaza Turi, asked if the letter the judge had written to the Law Ministry regarding jail trial had been answered. The court noted that no response was received and adjourned the hearing without taking any action until October 29 due to the nonavailability of the PTI founder.
