MIRANSHAH: Security forces killed 15 militants in an intelligence-based operation in the Ghulam Khan area of North Waziristan, official sources said on Wednesday.
According to the sources, security forces launched the operation after receiving intelligence about an attempt by militants belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij to infiltrate Pakistan from Afghanistan.
As a result of the successful operation, the entire 15-member group attempting to cross into Pakistan was killed, the sources said.
They said 15 militants were targeted and all of them were killed.
A clearance operation in the area was still under way following the action.
Ghulam Khan holds strategic geographical importance in North Waziristan and has previously been used by militant elements to attempt infiltration into Pakistan.
