A 52-year-old woman was killed while an 18-year-old girl and a five-year-old boy were injured when plaster from the ceiling of a house collapsed in Korangi late on Tuesday night.
According to rescue officials, the incident occurred near Labour Square in Sector 32-A, Korangi. Rescue teams reached the area and pulled the woman and the injured victims from the debris before transporting them to hospital.
The deceased was identified as 52-year-old Shahida, while the injured were identified as 18-year-old Maryam and five-year-old Moiz. According to the family, Shahida, Maryam and Moiz were sleeping in a room when the ceiling plaster suddenly collapsed on them.
The family said Maryam was Shahida’s niece, while Moiz was her grandson. They added that Maryam was due to get married in two months. Further investigation was under way.
