LAHORE:The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore, on Wednesday, announced the results of the Class 9 exam, with the performance of government schools raising serious questions about educational standards.
Only 39 per cent of students from government schools passed the Class 9 examination, while 61 per cent failed. Around 72 per cent of boys and 52 per cent of girls in government schools could not pass the examination. In comparison, private schools recorded significantly better results, with 70 per cent of their students passing the examn. Overall, 46 per cent of students under the Lahore Board passed the Class 9 exam. A total of 280,676 students appeared in the exam, of whom 130,543 were declared successful.
