LAHORE:Minority representatives have expressed serious reservations over the Sindh government’s decision to appoint deputy commissioners as administrators of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), saying religious places of worship and trust properties should be protected at the national level rather than divided among provinces.
Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, the representatives said provincial-level intervention in the administration of evacuee trust properties could affect the management of Gurdwaras and temples.
Sardar Bishan Singh said the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) was a symbol of the federation and should not be given a provincial character. He said the board handled visa processing for Sikh and Hindu pilgrims visiting Pakistan and coordinated with Pakistani diplomatic missions abroad. He said the ETPB was making arrangements for the service of the minority community and protection of religious places.
