LAHORE:A gang involved in deceiving citizens by posing as government officials and promising government jobs for their children has been exposed. The NCCIA Faisalabad has arrested two suspects involved in the fraud.
According to the investigation, the suspects contacted citizens through phone calls while impersonating government officials and assured them that they could arrange government jobs for their children in various government departments and demanded specific amounts in exchange for securing jobs. In some cases, victims were instructed to transfer advance payments to mobile accounts.
According to officials, the suspects also contacted a citizen from Chiniot by phone and assured him of assistance in securing a government job and facilitating the recruitment process. He was subsequently instructed to transfer money to different mobile accounts.
During the investigation, the NCCIA conducted a technical analysis of the relevant mobile numbers, SIMs and mobile phones used by the suspects, which helped investigators trace and identify the individuals involved.
During the operation, Ammar Mehdi was arrested and two mobile phones were recovered from his possession. Examination of the phones revealed WhatsApp numbers, chats, IMEI numbers and other important digital evidence.
Investigators also found communications and account-related conversations with another suspect, Imran, following which he was arrested. One mobile phone was recovered from his possession.
