BISHKEK: Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday stressed the need to implement the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran, saying it was the only way forward to resolve their dispute.
DPM Dar made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Bishkek, the Foreign Office said in a statement.
During the meeting, DPM Dar and Araghchi exchanged views on bilateral relations and regional developments and reaffirmed the importance of continued engagement, the FO said. “The DPM/FM underscored that dialogue and diplomacy remain essential to promoting peace and stability in the region, and that sincere implementation by both parties to the conflict of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding of June 2026 remains the only way forward,” it added. DPM Dar also met with China’s FM Wang Yi on the sidelines of the SCO meeting in Bishkek.
