MANSEHRA: Heavy fog and intermittent rain hampered the search on Tuesday for an Irish mountaineer who went missing while descending the over 13,500-foot-high Musa Da Musalla peak in Siran valley amid adverse weather conditions over the weekend.
“The search operation being contributed by sniffer dogs, high-tech drones used at mountains topography is yet to establish the whereabouts of the missing foreign mountaineer, as 15 teams actively pursuing their task face rough weather conditions, heavy fog and oxygen deficiency,” Nasir Mehmood Satti, the deputy inspector general of police, Hazara range, told reporters.
The search operation, which was suspended on Monday night due to fog and harsh weather conditions, resumed the next morning to locate the Irish mountaineer who had gone missing on August 30.
The Irish mountaineer Alexander, along with a British national Alun David Cooper Cledwyn, had gone to Siran valley to summit Musa Da Mussala peak on August 28 without a no-objection certificate from the police and other relevant departments.
