KOHAT: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed visited Kohat on Tuesday and addressed a police darbar, assuring officers and personnel that steps were being taken to improve their professional capacity, welfare and working facilities.
On arrival at the Police Club, a smartly turned-out police contingent presented him a guard of honour. The IGP also visited the Martyrs’ Memorial, laid a floral wreath and paid tribute to the sacrifices of police martyrs.
A police darbar was later held at the Kohat Police Club with officers and personnel of the Kohat region. DPO Kohat SSP Rai Mazhar Iqbal welcomed the IGP, while DIG Kohat Region Irfan Tariq presented a welcome address.
Addressing the gathering, the IGP said effective measures were being taken to further enhance the professional capacity of the police force. He said special attention was being given to providing modern facilities, resources and training to enable personnel to perform their duties more effectively.
He said further steps were also being taken for the welfare of police personnel, adding that the brave officers and jawans of the KP Police were standing firm in difficult circumstances to protect the country and its people.
The IGP said the KP Police was playing the role of a frontline force in the fight against terrorism and had rendered unparalleled sacrifices for the restoration of peace. He said these sacrifices could never be forgotten and pledged to further improve the force’s capacity, welfare and professional facilities.
He directed officers and personnel to ensure courteous treatment of citizens, uphold merit and the rule of law, resolve public complaints on a priority basis and make their efforts against crime and terrorism more effective.
Earlier in his address, DIG Irfan Tariq said the Kohat Region Police remained alert and prepared despite facing major challenges. He said serving the public and protecting their lives and property were among the force’s top priorities.
He said the regional police would continue the mission of its martyrs and would make no compromise in the fight against terrorism and for the restoration of peace. He added that under the leadership of IGP Zulfiqar Hameed, the police force was united and determined to confront the threat of terrorism.
