Islamabad:Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and Chief Commissioner Sohail Ashraf conducted a joint inspection of major thoroughfares and rain-affected areas across the federal capital to oversee traffic management and public safety measures during recent heavy rainfall.
During the field visit, officials assessed road conditions, monitored traffic movement at key intersections, and received operational updates from field officers regarding rain-related challenges.
Following the assessment, IGP Rizvi instructed all teams to remain on high alert, utilize available resources to keep traffic moving smoothly, and clear water accumulation on roadways without delay. Traffic across Islamabad’s primary routes currently remains smooth, with drainage teams actively clearing standing water in low-lying areas. Additional traffic personnel have been deployed to key locations to ensure continuous monitoring and assist motorists.
Rizvi reiterated that safeguarding public life and property remains the department’s top priority, directing officers to maintain full presence in their assigned areas and respond swiftly to any traffic incidents, emergencies, or calls for assistance.He also emphasized the need for close inter-departmental coordination to allocate extra resources dynamically as weather conditions evolve.
