LAHORE:Lahore police arrested four suspects in separate incidents, officials said on Tuesday.Nishtar Colony police arrested a man for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a six-yearold girl and assaulting her when she resisted. The girl’s mother had approached DIG Operations Faisal Kamran during his open court and lodged a complaint about the incident. The DIG directed the relevant police officers to take immediate action.
Police subsequently traced and arrested the suspect, identified as Hamza, with the help of human intelligence. According to police, Hamza had allegedly lured the girl and attempted to sexually assault her before subjecting her to violence when she resisted. A case was registered against the suspect, who was later handed over to the Gender Cell for further legal proceedings, a police spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, Shafiqabad police arrested a man after a video allegedly showing him engaging in indecent acts at a mobile phone shop in Karim Park Bazaar went viral on social media. Taking notice of the video, police arrested the suspect, identified as Ahsan Ali, and initiated legal proceedings against him, the spokesperson said.
In another case, Garden Town police arrested Sufyan at Canal Metro Station for allegedly stealing mobile phones and other valuables from Metrobus passengers. Police recovered six stolen mobile phones from his possession and registered a case against him. Separately, Muslim Town police arrested Mubashir for allegedly attempting to bribe police officers with Rs25,000 to secure the release of suspects from a police station. Police said Mubashir offered the money at the police station and was arrested after officers recovered the alleged bribe from his possession. A case was registered against him.
Man arrested for stealing riders’ phones after booking taxi rides
Mughalpura police have arrested a man for allegedly stealing mobile phones from online taxi service riders after booking rides with them, recovering five stolen phones from his possession, police said.
The suspect, identified as Owais, was traced and arrested with the help of CCTV footage. A case was registered against him.According to police, the suspect would book rides to a private shopping mall in Mughalpura from different parts of the city. Upon reaching the destination, he allegedly asked the rider to hand over his mobile phone on the pretext of making an urgent call. He would then allegedly ask the rider to fetch water and enter the shopping mall while he remained outside, talking on the phone. The suspect would subsequently move towards another exit and flee with the rider’s mobile phone. During interrogation, Owais allegedly confessed to committing four similar thefts within a month, police said.
Biker injured in bid to avert traffic police dies in hospital
A motorcyclist, identified as Zain, who was injured in a traffic accident at Shadman Market U-Turn on August 26, died on Tuesday after remaining under treatment at Services Hospital for five days.
According to the spokesperson for Lahore Traffic Police, the incident occurred on August 26 at Shadman Market U-Turn, where traffic personnel on duty signaled a motorcyclist, who was riding without a helmet, to stop. According to preliminary information, instead of stopping, the motorcyclist attempted to proceed at high speed. During the attempt, he collided with a traffic assistant, resulting in both the motorcyclist and the traffic official falling onto the road and sustaining injuries.
Both injured persons were shifted to hospital for medical treatment. The traffic official was provided initial medical treatment at Qila Gujjar Singh Hospital, while the motorcyclist, Zain, was shifted to Services Hospital, where he died. CTO Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi has ordered SSP Sadar Zone to conduct a further inquiry into the matter.
