LANDIKOTAL: Police have arrested a man allegedly involved in operating fake social media accounts under different names and blackmailing citizens in Landikotal, sources said on Sunday.
The suspect, identified as Zahid, son of Barkat, a resident of Khoghakhel Shinwari, was arrested on allegations of operating fake social media accounts and harassing citizens.According to the first information report registered at the Landikotal Police Station, the suspect allegedly used fake accounts to defame respectable citizens, create and share obscene photographs and fabricated videos, and demand money from victims while threatening them.
Police said Shah Fahad, son of Amir Nawaz, submitted a complaint against the suspect at the Landikotal Police Station, following which an investigation was launched.During the investigation, police allegedly traced Zahid, who was described as the ringleader of the fake-account network. He was arrested and shifted to the Landikotal Police Station.Police said the investigation was underway, while efforts were also being made to identify and arrest other persons allegedly involved in the network.
