Four people, including a five-year-old child, were killed in road accidents in Karachi on Saturday.
In the Mochko area, a man was killed when two trailers collided on Hub River Road near Lucky Graveyard. The deceased was identified as 29-year-old Farmanullah, son of Kashal Khan, a resident of Metroville, SITE.
According to Mochko SHO Inspector Sohail Farooq, Farmanullah was driving one of the trailers. The driver of the other trailer fled the scene. The police seized both vehicles and launched an investigation. The deceased’s body was taken to the Civil Hospital.
A 55-year-old pedestrian who was injured after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near One Number Bus Stop in Soldier Bazaar on Friday night died during treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre on Saturday morning. Police found no identification documents on the victim and shifted the body to the Chhipa morgue for identification.
Later, the victim was identified by his brother Javed as Arif, son of Iqbal, a resident of Moosa Lane, Lyari. Javed told the police that Arif had been missing from home for around 18 months and was later found sleeping on a footpath in Parsi Colony, Soldier Bazaar.
In Korangi Industrial Area, a five-year-old boy was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Ibn Saad Masjid in KDA Scheme, Korangi Crossing. Korangi Industrial Area SHO Inspector Hakim Dad identified the deceased as Hamza, son of Noor Sher Khan, a resident of Allah Wala Town, Sector 31-C.
The police said the child was playing in a street outside his home when an unidentified Suzuki pickup hit him and fled. The SHO said police traced the vehicle with the help of CCTV footage and would arrest the driver soon. A case has been registered on the complaint of the child’s father.
Meanwhile, a 60-year-old man was killed in a traffic accident near Byko Pump in Khairabad, Zebo Goth, in the Manghopir area, rescue officials said. The deceased was identified as Abdul Aziz, son of Yaqoob. His body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
According to rescue officials, the accident allegedly occurred when a speeding Vigo hit the elderly motorcyclist. The driver of the vehicle reportedly fled the scene after the collision.
