TAKHT BHAI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Secretary Fayyaz Ali Shah on Sunday visited Ayaz Shaheed Memorial Category-C Hospital in Takhtbhai and inspected cleanliness, medical services and facilities available to patients.
Mardan District Health Officer Dr Sadiq Shah, Medical Superintendent Dr Imran Johar, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Adnan, Sehat Card focal person Dr Sajjad, Mardan district paramedics president Afzal Khan and other officials and hospital staff were present during the visit.
At the MS office, the health secretary provided detailed information and statistics from the medical superintendent and doctors regarding hospital staffing, medical facilities, OPD services, X-ray, ultrasound, operation theatre and other departments.
He subsequently inspected the wards and various sections of the hospital and reviewed the facilities being provided to patients.
The secretary expressed serious displeasure over the condition of the X-ray department and also criticised poor cleanliness in the washrooms and other areas of the hospital. He issued strict instructions to the relevant officials to improve the situation.
A team of local journalists led by Takhtbhai Press Club president Muslim Sabir and expressed their concerns regarding the hospital’s problems, shortage of facilities and administrative matters and gave and suggestions for improvement.
Representatives of the Chemists and Druggists Association, Gohar Ali and Guftar, also submitted complaints concerning the Sehat Card pharmacy operated at the hospital and called for an inquiry into the matter.
The health secretary spoke directly with patients and sought their views about the medical facilities being provided to them. He issued necessary instructions to the relevant officials on the spot.
Social figures and journalists demanded the provision of MRI, CT scan and echocardiography facilities, as well as specialist ultrasound and pathology services at the hospital.
