QUETTA: Two people were killed and two others injured when an explosive device planted along a roadside exploded at Wali Tangi in the Hanna Urak recreational area of Quetta, police said on Sunday.
According to police sources, unidentified militants had allegedly planted the explosive device along the roadside in Wali Tangi with the intention of carrying out a terrorist attack. The device detonated with a powerful blast as a vehicle carrying the victims was passing through the area.
As a result, two people travelling in the vehicle were killed on the spot, while two others, identified as Muhammad Din and Roman Khan, sustained injuries.
The explosion caused panic and fear among residents and visitors in the area. Soon after receiving information about the incident, teams of the local administration, police and security forces reached the site, cordoned off the area and launched an investigation.
The bodies were handed over to the heirs after completion of necessary legal formalities. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
