BUREWALA: A Farmers’ Field Day was organised in Burewala under the Better Cotton Programme by the READS Pakistan Vehari team, with a large number of male and female farmers and community members participating in the event.
Representatives and agricultural experts from the Agriculture Department, Pest Warning and Quality Control Department, Irrigation Department, Livestock Department, Bank of Punjab and other agriculture-related organisations attended the field day. Assistant Director Agriculture Rana Tariq, Assistant Director Pest Warning Tahir Abbasi, Agriculture Officer Muhammad Usman, Sitara Tahseen from Agriculture Office Jamlera, Hamza Khan of the Bank of Punjab, Aashir Zaman from the Irrigation Department, Dr Zia Islam of the Livestock Department and Haider of Engro Fertilizers briefed farmers on various agricultural matters. The speakers provided guidance on improved crop management, timely monitoring of pests and diseases, balanced fertiliser use, efficient water management, better livestock practices, and access to agricultural and financial facilities. Better Cotton farmers also shared their experiences and discussed sustainable farming practices being adopted under the programme.Participants welcomed the initiative, describing such field activities as useful for providing farmers with practical guidance and promoting modern and sustainable agricultural practices.
