PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafiullah Jan has said the province’s performance in technology and digital development is being recognised at the global level, describing it as a proud moment for both the province and the country.
In a statement, he said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) had won the ASOCIO Government Award 2026 in recognition of its outstanding performance in the digital sector, innovation and promotion of digital governance.
He said the award recognised the KP government’s initiatives for digital governance, digitisation of public services and provision of modern facilities to citizens.The information minister said recognition of KPITB’s performance by ASOCIO, a leading technology organisation in the Asia-Oceania region, was a matter of pride for the government and people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He added that the ASOCIO federation comprised 24 member countries, including Australia, Japan, South Korea, India, Thailand and New Zealand.
Shafi Jan said the KP government was making extensive use of modern technology to improve public services, simplify government facilities and make the governance system more effective. He said that, in line with the vision of founding chairman Imran Khan, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi had placed special focus on Digital Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under which citizens were being provided with modern, fast and convenient digital services.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, he said, making Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a hub of modern technology was among the top priorities of the provincial government.Through digital governance and promotion of technology, he said, the delivery of public services was being made easier, more transparent and more efficient.
He added that the KP government was fully committed to advancing its digital reform agenda and would continue taking steps to further strengthen the province’s position in digital development and enhance its global recognition. The award will be formally presented to the KP Information Technology Board during the ASOCIO Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia, from October 5 to 7, 2026.
